How do I add sporting equipment to my booking?

If you're planning to take golf clubs, a bicycle, or perhaps a surfboard on your travels, we're more than happy to help you get that sorted. As sporting equipment takes up a little more room in the aircraft hold, it's important to let the airline know in advance so they can reserve a space for you.


Go direct to the airline ✈️

In most cases, the fastest and cheapest way to add sporting equipment is to do it yourself directly through the airline’s website.

How to get it sorted:

  1. Find your Airline Reference: Pop over to My Sunshine or check your Flight Voucher for your flight reference number (sometimes called a PNR).

  2. Visit the airline’s website: Look for the ‘Manage Booking’ section on their homepage. Enter your reference and surname to log in.

  3. Add your equipment: Look for 'Special Baggage' or 'Sporting Equipment' to see the airline's specific rates and weight limits, and pay them directly.

⚠️ Just a heads-up: Any equipment you book directly through the airline won't show up on your Sunshine paperwork. Don't worry, though—the airline will have everything they need on their system!


Can Sunshine do it for me? 🌟

For most airlines, we are happy to lend a hand!

How to request it:

  1. Log into My Sunshine and select your holiday.

  2. Head to the 'View and Manage Booking' section then scroll to 'Add Extras'.

  3. From there select 'Flight Extras' and hit 'All Flight Extras'.

  4. You'll see the option to add Sporting Equipment. Simply follow the prompts to tell us what you’re bringing.

💡 Quick note: Some airlines, like Ryanair, require you to manage your own extras directly on their website. If this is the case for your flight, we’ll let you know as you go through the request journey in your account.

What happens next?

Once you've submitted your request, our Amendments team will check with the airline for the latest availability and prices for you. We’ll then send you a full breakdown of the costs to look over.

If you're happy to proceed with the quote, we’ll add the equipment to your booking and take the payment. Afterwards, we’ll send you an updated confirmation email so you can have total peace of mind that your equipment is booked and ready for your journey.


⚠️ Important things to keep in mind:

  • We can only take requests up to 21 days before your departure date.

  • An admin fee will apply for our team to handle this for you.

Our advice? Heading straight to the airline's website is the best way to avoid extra costs and keep that holiday budget focused on your time away!
